Pre-Sentence Investigations

Pre-Sentence Investigation Reports (PSI/SARS) are often recommended by defendant’s attorneys to assist with sentencing recommendations. A PSI investigation includes a 30-60 minute interview, reference checks, background checks, criminal history reports, social history, contact with the arresting officer(s), and more. A PSI is most beneficial to a defendant when their case is an isolated incident or following rehabilitative measures. A PSI recommendation is often a mediated solution between the prosecutor’s and attorney’s recommendations.
